Criticism and doubt can point to flawed strategy or tactics. But if you're a rational person with good intentions, they rarely point to a flawed vision.

If you've committed to making your vision a non-negotiable part of your life — and you refuse to quit after the first attempt — then you must be willing to accept the criticism and the doubt.

You don't need to apologize for the things you love. But you do need to learn how to deal with the people who question them.

Perhaps the greatest freedom a person can have isn't the ability to choose your circumstances or the conditions of your life — but rather, when faced with a particularly harsh environment, the freedom to choose how you respond to it.

A few years ago I thought making a decision meant making the right choice. Now I understand it differently: a decision is simply making a choice, and then accepting the outcome — good or bad — with open arms.

Thinking this way, life opens up.

After all, nobody knows what's right or wrong until the distant future arrives.
